  • OIV-CAD model transfer

I am having a problem with drawing a scene graph made up of complex shapes. I know how to draw simple shapes like tables, chairs etc using SoCube and SoCylinder. I want to be able to model complex objects using the but determining the coordinate points is a big hurdle. I am good at usng CAD softwares like SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Is there a way by which I can transfer complex models into OIV. I would be glad if you could provide me with the code to do this.

    OIV Import

Core Open Inventor includes the capability to import several common geometry file formats including FLT (OpenFlight), DXF (AutoCad export) and X3D/VRML. Most CAD systems can export one or more of these formats. See the OIV reference manual for details and limitations.
There is also an optional extension that directly imports some CAD formats. See www.vsg3d.com for more info.

    Regards,
